Everyday Beauty: DWP

A lot of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power buildings were built in the 1930s and are beautiful examples of Art Deco buildings.  Every once in a while, I’ll be driving through a neighborhood and see one.  Each of them is slightly different in design; these weren’t cookie cutter buildings constructed simply as a Public Works program.  There’s a real artistry to them that you just don’t see anymore.  I always love discovering a new one I’ve never seen before.

Everyday Beauty: LA Sunset

We had a beautiful sunset last week, which we don’t get very often in L.A. because in order to have the pretty sunset you need clouds, which are rare here.  One night last week, though, we had clouds in the western sky, and I had to grab my camera for some pictures of the beautiful colors.

Everyday Beauty: St. Charles Borromeo Church

I love great, interesting architecture and while I’m not particularly religious, churches always have such fantastic artisan details.  St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood is no exception.  A beautiful example of Spanish Colonial architecture, the church has amazing carved stone and woodwork.
